Experience the Last Frontier
Entering 11th grade
Experience the Last Frontier, a land as wild and untamed as anything that you can imagine. Hike the Chilkoot Trail, a historic Klondike Gold Rush trail, kayak in Resurrection Bay near Seward, ice climb on a glacier, fish for salmon in the Pacific Ocean, hike to the famous Mendenhall Glacier and explore Banff and Jasper National Parks in the Canadian Rockies.
Campers will spend 48-days hiking, camping and touring through the Canadian Rockies and Alaska. Additional highlights of the program include a five-day backcountry hiking trip on the Chilkoot Trail, an overnight sea kayaking trip, and a challenging three-day backpacking trip in the Pinnell Mountain Range.
Campers will realize the values of Jewish identity, Jewish community, leadership, personal and communal growth as the trip plays out each and every day in a multitude of environments.
Our schedule is flexible and the campers are involved all the activities, choose the hikes and cook the meals. Without modern devices such as cell phones and iPods, campers fully experience the wilderness.
We are self-sufficient on the Alaska Trip, planning and cooking all of our own meals. Some of our favorites include grilled cheese & tomato soup, Mexican, pancakes, pizza and lots of mac and cheese.
*The Tamarack Camps Alaska Trip is operated under permit with the US Forest Service, Tongass National Forest, and is an equal opportunity provider.
