The moment they greet the great outdoors
Imagine a Shabbat service on the beach, or having Havdalah around a roaring campfire, with a million stars in the sky. At Tamarack outpost camps, in the heart of the wilderness, there are no clocks ticking away precious moments, nor are there distractions from the outside world (like cell phones). It’s how campers can fully immerse themselves in the natural rhythm of life — disconnecting from the modern world and reconnecting with oneself and nature.
At Tamarack outpost camps, kids set their own schedules, choose from a wide breadth of activities and foster friendships that last a lifetime.
The Outpost Experience gives rising ninth graders their first chance to step outside of Ortonville and into a Tamarack summer at either Camp Kennedy in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula or Agree Outpost Camp in northern Ontario. Both are cozy, wooded lakefront camps where cell phones, iPads and even watches are left behind — and the real magic begins. Without the distractions of home, campers dive into friendships, adventure and discovery, surrounded by breathtaking lakes, trails and endless opportunities for fun.
At the outposts, campers help run daily life — cooking meals, chopping wood, building fires and preparing for trips (both a four-day/three-night hiking adventure and a four-day/three-night canoeing journey) — and in return gain independence, pride and freedom. Days are filled with swimming, paddleboarding, hammocking, music, games and spontaneous moments of joy. With their own unique songs, traditions and histories, Kennedy and Agree share the most important thing: a long history of life-changing summers for laughter, growth and connection that campers will carry with them forever.

Campers will embark on an eight-day hiking trip along the beautiful north shore of Lake Superior and a four-day canoeing trip, further exploring the deep waters of Northern Ontario.
When at base camp, they will stay in one of four cabins and have full use of showers, the lodge, sauna and other amenities. They will have additional opportunities to hike, swim in waterfalls and canoe rushing rivers — learning wilderness and leadership skills, self-confidence and group dynamics.
