Tamarack Camps
Job Opportunities

Find the right fit, then spend your summer surrounded by beauty, wonder and adventure. Tamarack Camps job opportunities currently include…

Working at Camp Maas is different than working anywhere else during the summer. Here, everyone strives toward one common goal: creating an enriching and unforgettable experience for children. It’s the reason a camp job can be one of the most satisfying and rewarding 10 weeks of your life.

Required Dates

  • Pre-camp training – Dates TBD
  • Contract ends when camp finishes, around the middle of August

Requirements

  • Youth group or leadership experience preferred
  • Experience working with children
  • Tripping/overnight camping experience preferred

Let go of everyday routines and tune into the great outdoors. Our outpost camps, located in remote locations of the Upper Peninsula or Wawa, Ontario, are rustic wilderness programs for high school teens that focus on hiking, canoeing and creating strong and meaningful communities in nature.

Requirements

  • Be responsible for the care and well-being of campers, as a friend, teacher and role model
  • Plan and lead all camping trips
  • Develop and implement creative programming
  • Assist with meal preparation and clean-up
  • Obtain lifeguard and wilderness first-aid certification (provided for all staff)
  • Live in a remote wilderness location
  • Sleep in a tent on camping trips

Due to the nature of this program, staff are not permitted time off and must be available around the clock for campers.

While at base camp, staff have separate sleeping quarters from the campers. When on camping trips, staff will sleep in tents at primitive wilderness campsites with no amenities — that is, unless you count the Northern Lights, breathtaking sunsets and the call of the loon.

On a travel trip, you’ll lead the journey of a lifetime, either throughout the United States (out west or in Alaska) or Israel. Highlights include hiking and camping, backpacking trips, visiting incredible state and national parks, and experiencing the beauty of nature without modern devices.

Our internship opportunities, available in a wide range of interests, combine the traditional camp staff position with a non-paid pre-camp internship. The entire program is approximately 13 weeks, which includes a five-week internship placement in the community, followed by a six-to-eight-week camp placement. It also includes a leadership development component to enhance resumes and broaden community connections.

Interns will be chosen to participate in this program and will require an individual interview prior to acceptance. Support and mentorship throughout the program will be provided.

Requirements

  • Internship programs will require at least a 25-hour workweek
  • You must be in college to apply

Staff members also enjoy socials in and out of camp, days off and an exclusive lounge with access to laundry and phones.
  • College credit: You may be eligible to use your camp experience for college credit or, in some cases, as an independent study, practicum, or internship. Be sure to ask your advisor or a professor.

  • Training: Gain valuable certifications, such as CPR, first aid and activity specialist credentials, which can enhance your job prospects at home or school.
