We are so excited to welcome Justin Ozrovitz as the Director of Camp Olmsted! Justin is no stranger to the outposts; he is a longtime Tamarack camper and staff.
A note from the director:
Greetings!
My name is Justin, and I will be directing Camp Olmsted this upcoming summer! I wanted to introduce myself and give you all a little background information on my time with Tamarack Camps.
I’ve spent a lot of time at Tamarack Camps as both a camper and a staff member. I actually did some number crunching and figured out that I’ve slept over a year of my life, over 450 days, at Tamarack Camps. I have spent seventeen summers with camp, seven of those being at Agree Outpost Camp in Wawa, Ontario. While at Agree, I gained the love and appreciation for family, Judaism, hard work, leadership, and the wilderness.
After spending so much amazing time at Tamarack, I wanted to venture off and try something new. In the summer of 2018 I moved to Ely, Minnesota, where I began working year-round for Voyageur Outward Bound School. I was leading month-long hiking, canoeing, and dog sledding expeditions through the Boundary Waters. I have been up there since, and I can say with certainty that I will not be missing those mosquitoes this summer. After spending three winters up there and enduring -40 degree weather for weeks at a time, I decided to migrate south and give back to a place that helped mold me into the person I am today.
From camper, to counselor, to director, I am beyond excited to get things rolling. I look forward to sharing my love and appreciation for Tamarack Camps and the wilderness this summer at Camp Olmsted.
I can’t wait to meet all the Olmsted campers and staff,
Justin
PS: Don’t forget to break in those hiking boots!
