For baseball fans, Opening Day is a tradition you look forward to all year. You wake up early, put on your favorite team’s gear, and celebrate with fellow fans to kick off what you hope will be a winning season. For Tamarack Camps, this Monday, November 1, is our Opening Day and we can’t wait!
First, Monday is Tamarack T-Shirt Day where camp’s spirit comes alive online. You’ll often hear me say, “Tamarack is the community’s camp,” and this is demonstrated so vividly on Tamarack T-shirt Day. Whether you attended Tamarack yourself, are a camper parent, board member, supporter, or fan – you are part of the ruach that makes Tamarack so special in our community. Join the tradition by wearing your favorite Tamarack apparel and posting a photo to social media using the hashtag #TTSD. You can also send your photo to tamarack@tamarackcamps.com and we will post it.
November 1 is also the day that camper and staff applications “go live” online. We are thrilled to re-introduce more programs to our winning lineup: Camp Maas, Outpost Camps, Travel Trips, and the Sue and Alan J. Kaufman & Family Teen Mission to Israel/TLV. We cannot wait for our children, teens, and young adults to experience their best summer ever!
Finally, November 1 marks the first day of our agency’s new fiscal year. I am proud to say that we ended the 2021 fiscal year with a balanced budget and in a healthy position, both operationally and financially. On behalf of our Board of Directors, I want to acknowledge our professional staff and the leadership of our CFO, Andy Belsky, who successfully managed a careful austerity plan in unusual and uncertain times.
I also feel deep gratitude for the partnership of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit and for everyone who supported Tamarack Camps in any way throughout this year. Truly, we are the “community’s camp,” thanks to each one of you. And now, together, we begin to prepare for the summer ahead, with a full roster of programs and experiences to offer our children, teens, and young people.
Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram. And don’t forget to post your Tamarack T-Shirt Day photo with the hashtag #TTSD on Monday!
