We are thrilled to share the addition of Helayne Shaw to our stellar advancement team! Helayne, now in a full-time position with Tamarack Camps, will continue in her leadership roles with new campers and family camp and will also lead our robust alumni engagement.
Recognized as Tamarack’s Distinguished Alum in 2021, Helayne brings unmatched passion for Jewish camping and education and a wealth of Tamarack knowledge and experience to this new role. She has been nationally recognized for her work on our Bubbie Zaydie program and will focus on continuing multigenerational experiences to alumni and families throughout the year.

I am thrilled to begin my full-time, year-round work with Tamarack Camps! Camp has been a part of my life since 1971, when I boarded my first green Tamarack bus heading to Dorm 2 in Brighton. My mom tells me I never looked back. I spent eight years as a camper and just finished my 36th summer on staff at Tamarack. My staff years began shortly after my years as a camper as a Teen Co-op, babysitter, a few years as a counselor, and more years as a supervisor, family camp counselor, and Program Director at Brighton.

When we merged the two properties after the summer of 1993, I remained on Senior Leadership and Directed Family Camp until the spring of 1998. I staffed the second Teen Mission to Israel in 1998, then sought out a different camp opportunity in WI, where I stayed until 2004.
In 2004, I returned part-time (year-round) as the Director of Family Camping. I worked at Camp Maas as a camper liaison, Co-head of Brighton side, New Camper Liaison, and now adding Alumni to my responsibilities.
I believe that “I am who I am because of camp.” I love to talk about camp and the confidence it instilled in me, the relationships formed, and, more importantly, the skills I use in everyday living and building relationships with people.
