Introducing our chief storyteller, Amy Skimin

Gabe Neistein, Chief Advancement Officer

Storytelling is intrinsic to any camp experience, especially at Tamarack Camps. Whether through tales of Joe Krepsy around the campfire, reminiscing at a reunion event about the amount of hotdogs eaten at Foxfire (maybe with a little embellishment), or when alumni share with pride that they made a donation because they were once a scholarship camper and now they’re able to give back, stories link us — past, current and future generations — to our beloved Tamarack experience.

With so many great stories to tell, I am excited to introduce you to our Chief Storyteller and Senior Marketing and Communications Manager, Amy Skimin!  Read more from Gabe. She brings more than a decade of experience in nonprofit and higher education marketing and communications, most recently at Wayne State University. She has bachelor’s degrees in journalism and political science from the University of Missouri-Columbia (M-I-Z!) and a Master of Public Administration in nonprofit management from the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

In her role, Amy is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy to support the Tamarack’s strategic plan, from creating and producing marketing collateral, to collaborating with team leadership to promote the agency’s mission and programs. We are lucky to have Amy in this new role, and in a short time, she has already worked collaboratively with our amazing team across departments to manage communications needs.

With new promotional materials (like our scholarship brochure) underway, our biggest fundraiser of the year — Send a Kid to Tamarack — coming up on May 8, and some exciting announcements on the horizon, we’ve definitely been keeping her busy during her first few weeks — and she’s not showing any signs of slowing down!

Outside of work, Amy enjoys running, traveling, and spending time with her husband, Jesse, and sons, Graham (11) and Luca (7) — already enrolled for this summer at “The Greatest Place on Earth.”
