Confidence, community and carabiners: A new ‘adventure’ is coming to Tamarack!

Tamarack Camps staff

Even as the seasons change, the momentum at Tamarack Camps never slows. With great excitement and heartfelt gratitude, we are thrilled to share news that will “elevate” the Tamarack experience for years to come!

Thanks to the generosity of alumnus Rick Bloom, Tamarack Camps is proud to announce the creation of The Lucker Family Adventure Course — a bold, state-of-the-art addition that will expand adventure, connection and confidence-building across our camp community. The course is named in honor of Rick’s niece and alumna Stephanie, her husband, Spencer, their children, Avi and Mila, and their beloved dog, Cosmo — a reflection of family, joy and the spirit of adventure that is synonymous with a Tamarack summer.

I am honored and privileged to be able to support this exciting project. Tamarack has always been a special place for me and this new adventure course will help Tamarack continue to grow and evolve, while also challenge and stimulate campers — both young and the young at heart.

The Lucker Family Adventure Course will bring people together, develop self confidence and create unforgettable memories, just like the ones I have from my years at Tamarack.

I would also like to thank Gabe, Lee, Carly and Matt for their help and in making me feel so good about my donation.

Nestled in nature on Camp Maas’ Senior Side, next to the Tango Tower, this new, free-standing adventure course enhances Tamarack’s high ropes programming and supports year-round use by Tamarack Adventure and Retreat Center (TARC) groups. Participation in activities like climbing, swinging and balancing high above the ground provides powerful team- and character-building benefits, supporting emotional well being, physical health and personal growth. Already a favorite among campers, staff, family camp participants and TARC groups, the adventure program will be transformed by this new course — encouraging even more campers and community groups to step outside traditional comfort zones and discover their true capabilities.

“It has been deeply meaningful to get to know Rick through this process. His niece Stephanie and I both had the privilege of experiencing the power of Tamarack together as campers, and it’s special to see how those shared roots continue to shape our lives in meaningful ways,” said Gabe Neistein, chief advancement officer. “Watching Rick’s genuine passion for camp and his deep commitment to supporting Jewish causes — especially during his visit to camp last summer and throughout this journey — has been truly inspiring.

Preparation is officially underway, with completion anticipated in time for summer 2026, ensuring that this exhilarating experience becomes a cornerstone of summer camp and year-round programming.

“Adventure challenges are about so much more than the climb — they teach trust, resilience and teamwork,” said Lee Trepeck, CEO. “From the time this need was identified by Matt and his team, whose leadership have been instrumental, it’s been clear that this new course will represent our commitment to providing industry-leading and year-round programming.

The Lucker Family Adventure Course is a towering statement — and it’s a broad invitation to climb higher, cheer louder and grow together. We can’t wait for campers, families and community groups to join the action and directly experience the thrill!

Want to experience the Lucker Family Adventure Course for yourself? Camp applications are still open, and it will be available to TARC groups beginning this fall.
