A message from our president and CEO

Dr. Danny Klein, President, and Lee Trepeck, CEO

To our beloved Tamarack Camps and greater Jewish community,

During tumultuous times around the world, we remain shaken by yesterday’s horrific events at home, inside Temple Israel.

Even facing deep hatred and violent intentions, we are so thankful that, physically, everyone is safe from yesterday’s antisemitic attack. Through the Temple Israel circle, amongst so many heroes who stepped forward, we appreciate the clergy, professional staff, educators, families, neighbors, partners and Jewish Federation of Detroit. And, of course, those champions who face evil on the front lines. Our community security is built upon a foundation of leadership, totally committed to the safety and well-being of our Jewish spaces — camp, synagogues, schools, buildings, playgrounds and the like. We are beyond grateful for their unwavering selflessness and commitment.

As we process, our inner strength grows by outward connection; so many people from within the local community, around the United States and throughout the world have reached us to share their support — of Temple Israel, of Tamarack and of our people. During acts of terror, the unified response of love and kindness penetrates even deeper. And, together, even through scars and pain, we continue to move forward, steadfast in our resolve to foster Jewish joy. For generations, that has been our unique spirit.

Today, as we look ahead, our Tamarack family stands unified, eager to reach a more peaceful world, where children grow and adults thrive. All wrapped within a beacon of light, shining brightest upon goodness.

There’s so much more to write… but, for now, let’s pause and simply embrace each other.

Shabbat Shalom — with boundless love for our professional team, board, campers, staff, alumni, supporters and the greater Tamarack community, all of whom enhance our strength and offer comfort during trying times.

With prayers for healing and better days ahead.
