It is hard to believe that we are at the halfway point of session two. Time is moving fast because the joy of camp is in full swing! From Camp Maas to Camp Kennedy, on the Western and Alaska trips, and everywhere in between, laughter and learning are happening, comfort zones are being expanded, and passions are forming.
Brighton Side campers participated in a fun-filled Circus Day, where tutus and clown wigs were donned, and campers had a ball playing Midway Games and sliding down the inflatable water slide so many times they lost count. Last night, we celebrated our annual Foxfire event that brings the best of the West to Camp Maas. Highlighted by arcade and carnival-style games, dressing in flannel and cowboy hats, everyone had a rootin’ tootin’ good time!
The fun isn’t over yet. New to camp this summer, Mid Side will enjoy Camp-Chella, a music festival-themed event featuring a variety of arts and sports activities, culminating in a silent disco. We will also celebrate Havdalah at Jeff Grey’s Circle and come together once more for the Schuchman Family Israel Day celebration on Friday, August 4. Additionally, we look forward to welcoming two more Bubbie Zaydie camps this weekend and next. We are so excited for our Bubbies and Zaydies to enjoy the same wonderful and memorable experiences with their grandchildren that have been on display for the first seven weekends.
On our travel trips, our TLV participants returned home from an extraordinary Joy and Allan Nachman Teen Leadership Trip to Israel and are serving in crucial leadership roles at Camp Maas. Western 1 returned home from a trip of a lifetime and to a grand welcome at Adat Shalom. Soon, Westerns 2 and 3 and Alaska 1 will return as well, but they are clinging to every minute of what has been an incredible experience. We are also looking forward to welcoming Alaska 2 to Bittker Conference Center this weekend to enjoy a special Shabbat reunion filled with swimming, the Tango Tower swing, and more meaningful time together.
Time clearly moves fast when having fun! We are so proud of our staff, who, while managing their own emotions, have rallied together and remain committed to providing another Best. Summer. Ever! Together, with Simon and the Mirkes family in our hearts, we are celebrating life and the joys of a Tamarack summer.
