Thanks to the generosity of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation Forward Together grant, gifts received through July 1 will be matched! (Take me to the donation form.)
Please join Margo Stocker, part of a four-generation camper family, in supporting Tamarack Camps:
My family’s Tamarack story began with my parents, who attended Fresh Air camp in the 1930s and early 1940s. My dad lived in the Jewish Children’s Orphanage in Detroit and my mom was raised by her grandparents — neither had an easy childhood. Through the generosity of our community, camp was the highlight of their summer — and often their year.
My parents passed their love of camp on to my brother and me. We spent many summers in Brighton and Ortonville — I even met my husband of 51 years, Michael, through a camp friend, and together, we raised two beautiful daughters who flourished during summers spent at camp.
Camp brings people together in a unique way — outside of social media, school and distractions. It is a place of growth. My grandson, Max, recently celebrated his Bar Mitzvah and spoke about the calm and peace he feels while he is at camp — a true testament to the impact and timelessness of the Tamarack experience.
My family owes so much to the generations of supporters who made camp possible for us when money was tight. Today, I am proud to be able to pay it forward through a monthly gift, knowing that our donation will help children and teens have an incredible summer and create lifetime memories.
