Here Come the Kids!

Lee Trepeck, CEO

Every year, the Song of the Summer provides a rhythm of purpose – and I’m thrilled that, once again, Carly Weinstock, camp director (along with her team), selected a tune with deep intentionality and beautiful lyrics!

Indeed, its theme resonates in our daily work. Undoubtedly, throughout Jewish communities around the world, these remain challenging times… and, continuously, we respond by raising our voices, contributing time and dollars, and attending touchstone programs.

That’s the essence of “Send A Kid to Tamarack,” where, this year, we connected more people than ever before, raised over $1 million for scholarships and greatest needs, and packed Temple Israel with the largest attendance ever recorded at our signature event. We are beyond grateful for such strong support; clearly, as a group, we collectively answered the spirit of bringing kids into the fresh air, where we provide opportunities to experience the beauty of nature and positive activities — all enhanced through meaningful relationships.

Now, with the calendar changing to June and new voices at the table, we have turned the corner — and, very shortly, the kids arrive! This weekend, our engaged professional staff welcomes a motivated seasonal team — where, “in the field” training begins, packed with expert strategies, experienced educators and mindfully driven sessions. Within weeks, campers pack their duffel bags for Ortonville, Munising, the Western United States, Alaska and Costa Rica.

Then, with dreams ahead, we transition into even higher gear and stretch forward, where the summer sun spreads light, and the glory of Jewish life shines upon Tamarack Camps. And, during a time when camp is needed more than ever, what could be better than this?!
