Honoring the Legacy of Jeff Grey

Jim Grey, Rachel Grey Ellis and Emily Grey Berman

“Jeff’s Circle” honors the memory of our son and brother, Jeffrey Grey, who died tragically during a storm in Algonquin Provincial Park while serving as the director of Tamarack’s Camp Kennedy. Nearly 20 years ago, The Jeff Grey Campfire Circle was created so that all who gather there could find peace, joy, connection, and healing through nature and music.

Over the years, this sacred space has been home to countless campfires, Havdalahs, song sessions and meaningful moments. Jeff’s Circle is now in need of important repairs and updates to ensure that future generations can continue to experience the magic, warmth and community that Jeff cherished so deeply.

We’re asking for your contribution to support these necessary enhancements. Your donation will help to:

  • Replace wooden benches and ground covering with more sustainable materials — ensuring a comfortable and long-term space.
  • Expand and update electrical access, broadening programming capabilities.
  • Add a concentrated area for song leaders, a new addition to this vibrant place.

To further celebrate Jeff’s legacy, we hope you will join us for a 20 Year Remembrance Event on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at Camp Maas in Ortonville, Michigan (additional details to follow).

We plan to rededicate Jeff’s Circle with these improvements by gathering to fill this beautiful space with community and song. Thanks to those who have already contributed. With these generous first-dollars-in, we have made great progress toward our $75,000 fundraising goal. We need your help to raise the remaining dollars by our deadline of March 1!

Please consider making a meaningful tax-deductible gift to help us restore this special place and honor Jeff’s memory this summer, marking 20 years since he left us. Every gift truly makes a difference!

Thank you for helping keep Jeff’s spirit burning bright through music, community, and campfire light.

With gratitude,

Jim Grey

Rachel Grey Ellis

Emily Grey Berman
