Painted Rocks

The rocks displayed as part of this exhibit were painted during an evening when some Israeli shlichim (staff) and Shinshinim shared stories (and favorite recipes) of three of their friends/fallen soldiers.

Local and international staff from Israel, North America and Europe went from table to table hearing stories — and tasting favorite dishes — of these beautiful people, gone way too soon. After, they were invited to paint rocks (to later be scattered around the Susie and Norman Pappas and Family Jewish Programing Building).

Many of the rocks had the name of friends who had fallen in the IDF since October 7 and others had quotes, hostage ribbons or peaceful images.

One young shlichim said she painted three rocks, each with a fallen friend’s name, and then she said she needs 20 more.
