Every year, we hear the same question from prospective camper parents. What makes Tamarack Camps more qualified than any other Jewish summer camp out there?
The answer — as you might imagine — is not just any one thing, but a combination of factors that come together to make the experience the best it can be for all of our campers.
At Camp Maas, one of our most proud accomplishments is the development of a Camper Care Team (CCT). The CCT is comprised of social workers, teachers and nurses who ensure that the sensitivities and needs of every camper are met. Each member of the Camper Care Team work with campers and counselors to help with any camper issues that may arise. As one parent said to us, “I love that there is so much “adult” oversight.”
Another highlight of our long-standing history is that we have honed our programming so that changes and choices expand as campers age. Brighton-age campers (our younger campers) are encouraged to try all activities at least once. Mid Side campers pick up their own choice activities every morning and elect a three-day intensive program (i.e., waterskiing, hockey, woodworking, acting, etc.). Our oldest campers focus on a specialty area for the entire summer. Most evenings, all campers enjoy free time (schmooze) to return to their favorite activities.
Finally, every summer at Tamarack Camps is unique. This is partially due to the fact that we bring in new Artists in Residence every year. These “artists”, whose expertise help our campers range from activities like STEAM-based robotics, storytelling to cooking sushi and creating specialized art projects. Campers love the “out of the box” programming and always, always, always want more.

In addition to our Camper Care Team, our progressive programming and our Artist in Residence program, we offer campers once in a lifetime experiences that keep them coming back year after year. As we enter our 118th summer as Michigan’s premier Jewish summer camp, we couldn’t be more excited to show off Tamarack Camps and everything our programs have to offer!
