Tidbits #18

Hello Camp Maas Families,

All campers who join us for a full session (or longer) experience one of Tamarack’s most cherished traditions: a camping trip. These journeys begin as short, supported adventures for our youngest campers and grow progressively longer as they mature—each step thoughtfully designed to build independence, confidence, and a genuine love for the outdoors. Along the way, campers learn essential camping skills, discover their own resilience, and deepen bonds with their cabin mates through shared challenges and unforgettable moments. These trips are more than time in nature—they are formative experiences that prepare campers for outpost adventures, travel programs, and ultimately a lifetime of connection to the natural world and to one another.

We have dedicated “tripping” staff to guide camping trips along with your child’s counselors. These trippers are experts in setting up tents, building campfires, and are lifeguard and wilderness first aid certified.

Here are camping trip descriptions for each village:
Applebaum and Shiffman: instead of departing camp for a trip, participants will enjoy our internal opportunities — a campfire with smores and stories.
DeRoy and Fishman: 2-day, 1-night hiking and canoeing trip along the Huron River
Charach Sheruth and Wolfe: 3-day, 2-night hiking and canoeing trip in Mio, MI
Berman and Hermelin: 4-day, 3-night hiking and canoeing trip in Mesick, MI
Kahn Ruach: 5-day, 4-night hiking trip to Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore
Robinson Pioneer: 6-day, 5-night hiking trip to Laurel Highlands in Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania and a 3-day, 2-night ziplining trip in Hocking Hills, OH
Kaufman Specialty: 5-day, 4-night hiking trip in the Upper Peninsula
Avodah: 2-day, 1-night hiking and canoeing trip in Holly, MI

Think summer!
