We are so grateful when mitzvah-aged members of our camp mishpacha (family) choose to focus their mitzvah projects on supporting Tamarack. This year, current camper Levi Rothberger wanted to do his part, and we’re excited to share what he has planned — in his own words:
For my mitzvah project I am raising money to help support inclusion, mental health awareness and scholarships at Tamarack Camps.
Tamarack is an accepting place for everyone. When I started to research places that I could give my time or raise money for, I was looking for a place that includes the LGBTQIA2S+ community, with an emphasis on mental health support. I thought about my own experience, and Tamarack Camps has been that place for me.
In the toughest times, camp has always been my mishpacha and my home away from home. I will be hosting a summer outdoor movie night called “Be You at Tamarack.” The event will showcase the movie “Troop Beverly Hills.” Each entry will be an $18 donation directly to Tamarack Camps and will include snacks and a beverage.
In advance of the event, I am also selling unique 3D printed fidgets, where the proceeds will be added to my total fundraising tally. I hope that the money I raise makes it possible for more kids to not only go to camp, but feel included and successful because they are welcome at camp no matter what.
Join Levi for “Be You at Tamarack” outdoor movie night on Wednesday, August 12, 6–8 p.m., at 32823 W. 12 Mile Rd, Farmington Hills, MI 48334
