tidbits #25

Rachel

Hello Camp Maas Families,

Michigan is experiencing an UP-TICK in TICKS throughout the state — and that includes your yards, playgrounds, and our camps. Help us to be proactive in preventing tick bites and infections by teaching your camper prevention and checking daily (practice daily checks in the shower at home so it is HABIT by the time they come to camp):

DEFEND yourself with a skin-safe insect repellent containing DEET and wear long pants and sleeves when/where appropriate.

AVOID tick habitats, like downed logs, leaf piles and high grass.

REMEMBER to do daily tick! If you remove a tick within 24-36 hours it is less likely to transmit illness.

ELIMINATE ticks when you find them on your skin by going to the clinic or a helpful staff member for proper removal and cleaning. See removal instructions for home here.

Learn this cute rhyme to remember how to check for ticks.

Stay safe!
