Making camp feel like home, no matter how far away

Tamarack Camps staff

For some families, Summer Family Camp is a fun weekend getaway. For others, it’s a tradition worth driving across the state to experience.

Just ask the Rubinstein family.

This August, for the second straight year, Andrew Rubinstein, a Tamarack alumnus, and his wife, Marnie, will load up the car and make the journey from Sault Ste. Marie with their three children — Salem, Allaire and Jack — to spend a weekend together at Tamarack. For them, the miles disappear the moment they arrive.

“There’s no better way to reconnect with Tamarack and introduce our young children to the ‘Greatest Place on Earth’ than Summer Family Camp,” Andrew shared. “It’s the perfect balance of quality family time, opportunities for the kids to be with camp staff and friends, and a chance for adults to experience Tamarack (almost) like campers again.”

That weekend has become more than just a family vacation — it has helped prepare the next generation of campers.

“Our oldest daughter is starting Shiffman Village this summer, and we know she feels more comfortable and confident because of experiences like Family Camp.”

For Andrew, one of the most meaningful parts of the weekend is seeing Tamarack come full circle.

“It’s also a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with old camp friends and staff. Looking around and seeing all of us back at camp — this time with our own children — is a powerful reminder of just how special Tamarack really is.”

Whether it’s your first visit or you’re returning to share camp with your own children, Summer Family Camp offers something truly unique: uninterrupted time together, unforgettable experiences, and the chance to create new traditions in a place that has shaped generations of families.

The Rubinsteins make the trip from Sault Ste. Marie because they believe those memories are worth every mile.

We hope you’ll join us and wonderful families like the Rubinsteins this summer and experience the magic together.
