Supporting camp, one item at a time

Your donation of any of these items (and to our Gear Share program), whether new or gently used, would be a wonderful act of tzedakah. By sharing these resources, you help us honor the value of Bal Tashchit (preventing waste) by giving materials a second life. Your support ensures our campers have a vibrant, creative summer while we work together to care for our planet.

General Things

Newspaper! This is so hard to find — please save yours for us!
Hair Dryers (helps to force things dry faster)
Iron
Ironing Boards
Wire (in spools) that is bendable
Weaving Loom (any size, would love a giant loom!)
Sheets or rolls of Felt (wool or synthetic)
Wool roving for needle felting
Bike tire tubes (the part inside the tire)
Copper tube
Hand mirrors

Sewing

Working sewing machines
Clean & folded Fabric Scraps — no smaller than ¼ yard (specifically cotton or other quilting fabric)

We will gladly accept donations at our Bloomfield office on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

Gear Share Program

There are so many ways to support Tamarack Camps — and not all of them involve making a financial gift. Sometimes, it’s as simple as passing something along.

As generations of camp parents know, gear has a way of piling up—and kids have a way of outgrowing it just as quickly. That’s what makes Gear Share such a meaningful part of our Tamarack community.

Started by alumna Mikki Rubin, Gear Share connects families through a simple idea: gently used items that still have plenty of life left—sleeping bags, rain gear, hiking boots, and more—can make a difference for another camper. Housed in Mikki’s basement, Gear Share brings that sharing to life.

To join in the spirit of sharing and sustainability by donating items, contact Gear Share. To request items, fill out the new request form. Please note: Equipment is available on a first come, first served basis, with a limit of five requests per family.
