Summer 2021 Update

September 25, 2020

Throughout last summer and into these early days of fall, our teams have been working tirelessly to find the best balance of health, safety, and practicality for next season’s programs. The purpose of this communication is to provide information—to the best of our ability at this time—about the summer of 2021.

In our evaluation of 2021 programs, we will continue to follow updated guidance from local and state health authorities, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). We are also regularly consulting with trusted camp leaders who delivered modified programming to their camper communities in 2020, learning what additional COVID protocols were employed before, during, and after camp to help promote a safe summer. And, as always, we appreciate the expert advice of our medical advisors, as their collective wisdom remains instrumental in driving our decision process.

At this point, our plan is to open registration in October, with the recognition that program offerings will be based upon the realities of this evolving pandemic. Today, without all scenarios decided, and with more input from various committees forthcoming, we are still evaluating the significant challenges of our typical summer lineup. In these upcoming weeks, as we learn more and work to finalize the most appropriate path for each program, we will continue to communicate with you.

As always, we are grateful to our camp community — campers, staff, families, supporters, and alumni. You have remained so engaged during these unusual times and we feel the comfort of your ongoing support.

As a follow up to our last update regarding next summer, we continue to engage in important conversations with our stakeholders, including the Camp Maas and Teen committees, and we are incorporating their input into our planning process. Next week, we are scheduled to meet with our Board of Directors – and, shortly thereafter, plan to announce application information for our Summer 2021 programs.

We are so grateful for the opportunity to engage in these important conversations. As always, our decisions will be guided by our medical committee, balancing the health and safety of our community as our highest priority.

Camp Maas (Ortonville, MI) will open for the summer of 2021! Our staff members continue to evaluate the teen programs and are scheduled to meet with its committee next week. Once all information and best options are further processed and finalized, dates and fees will be announced, along with the additional details of our summer programs.

As the pandemic evolves, please understand that our goal of another best summer is being balanced by the health and safety of our camp community, which remains our most important priority. We are working diligently to process the most optimal conclusions – and, as always, remain grateful for your involvement and ongoing support of Tamarack Camps!
