Tamarack Camps is stronger because of its bonds with Israel — these meaningful connections are a fabric of camp and remain unbreakable to the spirit of our identity. Each summer, we count down the days until we can host Israeli campers and shlichim (staff) in our homes and on our playgrounds; together, we sing, dance, break bread (and shakshuka), share culture… and pray.
These relationships fill our hearts with joy. Now, through the abhorrent violence of Hamas terrorists, unfathomable loss has escalated and our hearts have shattered.
In simpler times, at camp, we often cheer, “MISHPACHA (FAMILY)!” During these dark days, it is important that our Israeli brothers and sisters still feel our support and hear our spirit. With every direct connect, we learn there’s a positive impact — we are certain that texts, emails, and social media outreach provides some comfort to those directly affected. Communication matters.
So, in solidarity, let’s further raise our voices. Below, we have created a vehicle for you —and your family — to send words of support. Kindness helps. Also, please consider providing some additional comfort by making a donation to the Jewish Federation of Detroit’s Israel Emergency Response Campaign.
Again, we stand together — and today, like always — remain as one. On behalf of our entire team, we mourn the loss of innocent lives that have tragically fallen, yearn for the safe return of those captured, wish comfort for everyone affected (which is all of us)… and pray for peace.
Am Yisrael Chai.
