Every summer, we pick a summer song as our theme. It is not an easy task because we want something that all campers and staff can connect to and hopefully introduce them to a new song.
This year’s song is “Our Moment” by Vassy. It is about taking chances, reaching for the stars, and showing the world that you are here! This is something I want to express to all of our campers and staff. They are all incredible and have so much potential. Nothing should get in their way!
At Camp Maas, I love to watch campers try new things, push themselves out of their comfort zones and be in the moment with their friends. Just this week, campers made tiny frog pillows at Omanut, cooked monkey bread with Mama Joan, learned to play the ukulele at music, climbed the rock wall, and went tubing.
At Camp Kennedy this week, the campers visited Charles N. Agree Outpost Camp for their first backcountry. They had so many moments, including canoeing from island to island, seeing a moose outside of the bus, a talent show, and a giant sleepover in the game room.
On our travel trips (Western and Alaska) right now, campers and staff are creating moments driving through the Rockies and Western Canada.
Everyone is enjoying the moment. This summer, each camper is going to have many moments to shine. I know it’s just the beginning, but everyone will go home after their time at camp and tell their family and friends about so many great moments they had at camp. This is our moment… Summer 2023!
