The 2022 Annual Meeting

By: Michael Cooper, President & Geoff Kretchmer, Immediate Past President

For the second time in its 120-year history, the members of the Fresh Air Society gathered under the pavilion of Springdale Park for their Annual Meeting. The evening began with Camp Director, Carly Weinstock, introducing siblings, Sophie and Jonah Frank, to deliver the D’var Torah. Sophie was on Western Trip 1 and Jonah was a camper in Robinson Pioneer and Grosberg Ruach Villages. In their message, they thoughtfully shared similarities between the new year and the growth they each experienced at camp this summer.

The motions to elect a new President (Michael Cooper) and the slate of officers and board members were unanimously approved. We definitely felt the spirit of our camp community. It was so motivating to be together, surrounded by so many supporters, alumni, staff members, and friends, including past presidents, Darren Findling, Shelley Hutton, Brian Kepes, Richard Komer, Joe Lash, and Eddie Lumberg.

The President’s Award was presented to the Send a Kid to Tamarack committee for making the 2022 event such a success. Thanks to this committee, more funds were raised this year than ever before, and proceeds supported need-based scholarships, while also subsidizing the cost of camp for all families. Send a Kid to Tamarack co-chairs, Dr. Barbara Kappy and Maddi Ishbia Luckoff, accepted the award on behalf of the committee and recognized each member for their hard work, energy, passion, and dedication.

As the summer camp season concludes and we look ahead to the new year, we want to say “thank you” to our camp community for another BEST. SUMMER. EVER. Together, we have so much to be proud of and we look forward to an even brighter future for Tamarack Camps!

From strength to strength,

Michael Cooper, President
Geoff Kretchmer, Immediate Past President
